  • Unemployment Insurance: Iowa Department of Revenue

  • Income Tax Withholding: Iowa Workforce Development

     

REQUIRED INFORMATION

  • SIT ID # (format: XXXXXXXXXXXX)

  • SIT payment frequency

  • SUI ID # (format: 00######)

  • Current year SUI rate

  • SUI EFT Credit ID

    • Complete and email this document to iwduitax@iwd.iowa.gov.

    • When the agency provides the ID please update it in Namely Payroll and create a case with the EFT Credit ID listed.

 

REGISTERING FOR UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

New employers in Iowa can register with the Iowa Workforce Development by visiting their website here. Once registered, you will receive an Unemployment Account Number (UI) (called “IA Contribution Rate”) and Unemployment Rate (%) which you will need to enter into Namely Payroll under Company > Tax screen (UI tax).

Tip:

Future-date registration is possible for this state's unemployment insurance!

If you've run payroll in Iowa previously, you can find your UI Account Number on your Notice of UI Contribution Rate Form 65-5306, the Employer's Contribution and Payroll Report.

REGISTERING FOR INCOME TAX WITHHOLDING  

New employers in Iowa can register with the Iowa Department of Revenue by visiting the website.

TIP:

Future-date registration is possible for this state's income tax withholding!

Once registered, you will receive a letter containing your Permit Number, which you will need to enter as your EIN in Namely Payroll under Company > Tax screen ('Iowa State Tax'). Please email a copy of the letter to us by submitting a case in the Help Community.

If you've run payroll in Iowa previously, you can find your 
Withholding Permit Number on notices received from the Iowa Department of Revenue.

POWER OF ATTORNEY FORMS

Please note, Namely does not require a Power of Attorney for this state at this time. It is not required to file or remit payments on your behalf. If one is needed to resolve a tax matter, the tax notice team will request one from you at that time.

If a Power of Attorney is requested from you, you should email completed copies of the forms 
namelyPOA@Namely.com with the CID in the subject line for processing. We will update our system and maintain a copy of each form for record-keeping purposes

STATE INCOME WITHHOLDING FORMS

Namely uploads Federal and State W-4 documents to your HRIS site for use during Onboarding, or if you need to send W-4s to employees who need to make withholding adjustments.

TIP:

The most up to date W-4 documents can be found in the Namely section of the Document dropdown menu in Onboarding and Manage eSignature

Form Name: IA W-4

Accepts Federal W-4: No

Comments: Each worker must provide a Form IA W-4, Centralized Employee Registry Reporting Form and Employee Withholding Allowance Certificate, at the time of hiring. If an employee fails to provide an exemption certificate, the employer must withhold on the basis of no exemptions.
